SANTA MONICA, Calif. – ZipRecruiter (NYSE: ZIP) announced today the launch of a new dedicated app for ChatGPT, marking a significant shift in how job seekers discover employment opportunities by integrating a major marketplace directly into the world’s most popular generative AI tool.

The move aims to “meet job seekers where they are,” moving beyond the traditional paradigm of visiting a job board to search for roles. By integrating with ChatGPT, ZipRecruiter allows users to find work through natural, conversational queries rather than static filters and keywords.
“Job search doesn’t have to happen in the traditional paradigm of a job site,” said Ian Siegel, co-founder and CEO of ZipRecruiter. “Bringing ZipRecruiter into generative AI tools opens a novel way to drive conversations between job seekers and employers.”
How the AI-Powered Search Works
The integration functions as an app within the ChatGPT ecosystem. Once connected via the ChatGPT app library, users can summon the service using the “@ziprecruiter” command.
The primary advantage for users is the ability to specify highly granular preferences in a single sentence. For example, a user could prompt: “@ziprecruiter find me a retail job in NYC that pays $25 an hour and offers remote flexibility.” The AI then scans ZipRecruiter’s marketplace of millions of listings to provide fresh, relevant matches. Users can further refine these results by discussing specific needs like commute distance, employment type (full-time vs. contract), or the date the job was posted.
Bridging the Gap Between Search and Application
While the discovery and conversation happen within the ChatGPT interface, the final step remains secure. When a user finds a role they are interested in, they can click “View Job Details” to be redirected to ZipRecruiter’s platform to finalize their application.
This launch is part of a broader trend of “discovery commerce” and “discovery hiring,” where companies integrate their services into AI platforms that have become daily hubs for information. For employers, the app extends the reach of their job postings into a new, high-engagement channel.
